This Canon A-1 is a Canon 35mm single lens reflex film camera designed to accept Canon FD mount lenses. It was one of the most advanced 35mm SLR cameras for its time when it was introduced in the late 1970s. The camera offers various exposure modes including, shutter priority, aperture priority, manual, and was the first camera to offer electronically-controlled program autoexposure (camera chooses both the aperture and shutter for you automatically). The focal plane shutter has a range of speeds from 30 seconds to 1/1000 with a flash sync of 1/60. Other features of the Canon A-1 include depth of field preview, AE lock and an electronic self-timer.
The Canon A-1 is best used with Canon FD-mount lenses but it will work with earlier Canon FL-mount lenses albeit at the loss of shutter priority and program exposure modes.
This camera requires one PX28 (or its equivalent) battery for all functions.
